Pay Research Unit
The
Pay Research Unit was established in 1968 and is mainly responsible
for collection, compilation and analysis of data on actual expenditure
incurred on pay and various types of allowances as well as data
pertaining to the strength of the Central Government Civilian employees
and Employees of Union Territory Administrations. This unit brings
out an annual publication entitled "Brochure on Pay and Allowances
of Central Government Civilian Employees". The Brochure provides
statistical information regarding expenditure incurred by the different
Ministries /Departments of Central Government on pay and various
types of allowances such as Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance,
Compensatory (City) Allowance, Overtime Allowance etc. in respect
of its regular employees. It also provides information on Ministry/
Department- wise and Group-wise number of sanctioned posts and number
of incumbents in position. The Brochure contains information about
disparity ratio i.e. the ratio of the maximum to minimum pay of
different State Government Employees. In addition the Unit works
out financial implications of the proposals of the Government and
proposals coming before the National Council of JCM etc.
The
Unit brought out the 29th issue of the series of Brochure
for the year 2006-07 in November 2008. The work regarding the Brochure
for the year 2007-2008 is in progress.
